Women in senior corporate positions are significantly more likely than their male peers to view AI as a tool for revenue growth rather than a simple mechanism to cut costs.
According to the 2026 Disruption Index from AlixPartners, which surveyed more than 3,000 executives around the world, there is now a significant gap between genders when it comes to optimism on the deployment and strategic value of advanced automation.
The study reveals that 71% of female executives view AI primarily as an engine for business growth, whereas only 63% of men share this perspective. On the other hand, male leaders are more inclined to focus on cost reduction, with 37% identifying it as the main priority for AI compared to 29% of women.
This focus on long-term value creation is reflected in organizational performance, as 37% of women leaders expect significant positive growth this year, compared with 24% of men. “When women are absent from how AI is built, deployed, and governed, the cost is not abstract,” said Catherine Brien, global co-leader of AI and Data at AlixPartners.
