Mount Airy entrepreneur Teresa Lewis founded her staffing company, WorkForce Unlimited, in an era that wasn’t always friendly to female founders. She launched the company in 1987 when women weren’t even able to obtain a business loan without a male relative co-signer. It wasn’t until a year later in 1988 that Congress passed the Women’s Business Ownership Act, ending that practice.
