Rita Giendy’s TIME Asma Hotel promises to be a safe space for women travelling alone. That is thanks to the fact that 80 percent of the hotel’s staff are female.

Giendy said this works in two ways: It makes guests feel safe and gives staff more confidence.

It really helps our female guests feel comfortable. It’s not about safety – Dubai is already one of the safest cities in the world – it’s about comfort.
