Kathha Pictures, in association with WIF India, hosted an insightful panel discussion titled “Women Building Cinema Together.” The event brought together leading creative minds, industry leaders, and film enthusiasts to celebrate female collaborations driving Indian cinema forward and to pave the path for future partnerships.
The headline panel feature brought together three powerful industry voices: actor Taapsee Pannu, acclaimed writer-producer Kanika Dhillon, and Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor. The session unpacked the shifting narrative dynamics of female leadership, the power of female-led production houses, and the necessity of building sustainable creative ecosystems for women in film.
Reflecting on the strength, solidarity, and resilience required by female creators in the entertainment industry today, Kanika Dhillon shared, “When people ask me where this complicated, strong, and rare woman comes from, I tell them they are all around me… A normal woman is not unidimensional, a damsel in distress, or in need of a helping hand. We are very capable. As a female professional in this industry, you have to be kinder to other women… There are so many who want to bring them down. You have to celebrate them.”
