I am a woman working in health care, and I am a leader. I wish that wasn’t a rare statement, but the reality is that women are estimated to hold only 25% of senior roles in global health, despite making up 70% of its workforce. In short, women don’t have the same opportunities as men to call the shots. The gender leadership gap is the elephant in the room of global health, with too many organizations unwilling to boldly address it and prioritize finding a solution.
