Despite the progress women have made to earn their way into boardrooms and the C-suite, we’ve only scratched the surface in building a true culture of female leadership.
The Women Business Collaborative’s 2025 report found that only 9.3% of CEOs across Fortune 1000 companies are women. According to Carta’s 2024 Equity Report, for the U.S. in 2024, women-only founding teams raised just 4.1% of all pre-seed capital.
If it feels like we’ve been talking about this for decades, that’s because we have. While there is great work being done by organizations like Lean In Girls, Girls Inc. and others, if we don’t continue to shine a spotlight on gender inequities within the business landscape, then the magazines, websites and people that we follow could continue to be dominated by men—and that’s a gross injustice to the young girls and teens we’re raising.
