School pupils inspired by female associate deans’ leadership journeys

Extraordinary leadership journeys of our Associate Deans

This month, as part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, seven of our female associate deans shared their extraordinary career journeys with local school children, staff, and students.

The audience were predominately 13 to 15-year-old female students from local schools; the Academy Of St Francis Of Assisi,  Childwall Sports & Science Academy, Lifesciences UTC and The Studio Liverpool.

Becoming an empowering female leader

Seven of LJMU’s Associate Deans including Dr. Alison Lui, Elaine Hemers, Dr T. Komang Ralebitso-Senior, Dr Robyn Pyne, Dr Maureen Royce, Dr Denise Lee and Sarah Maclennan spoke to the audience about their own careers and lives, discussing:

  • How to deal with setbacks
  • Overcoming glass ceilings
  • How to become an empowering female leader

The students also asked questions to the panel and reflected on their own lives and the ways in which they already lead.
