2,000 Women Leaders Gather to Uncover the Hurdles to Women’s Advancement and the Leadership Competencies Needed to Overcome Them

Breaking all-time attendance and revenue records, Linkage’s 2023 Women in Leadership (WIL) Institute welcomed over 2,000 women leaders last week in Orlando, Fla.

“When we come together en masse like this, the energy is so powerful, it’s contagious,” said Jennifer McCollum, CEO of Linkage, a SHRM global leadership development firm committed to advancing women.

Noting that Linkage’s mission is to “change the face of leadership,” McCollum told participants that during this four-day learning experience, they would be equipped with actionable strategies to overcome the professional hurdles that are unique to women leaders. She outlined the hurdles to advancement: inner critic, internal bias, clarity, proving your value, recognized confidence, branding and presence, making the ask, and networking.

Throughout the week, each keynote speaker addressed a specific leadership competency needed to overcome these hurdles. The leadership competencies include becoming aware, influential, inspiring, connected, clear and bold.
