The number of women in chemical manufacturing remains extremely low; less than 30% of the over 10 million people in this industry are women. While it’s easy to research corporate DEI program commitments, personal stories from women in the chemical industry are far more illuminating. I heard first-hand from a brilliant group of women who shared their experiences – the good, the bad, and the aspirational – during a candid break-out session at the recent ASUG Best Practices: SAP for Chemicals event held in Texas. Most heartening was finding out that DEI surfaced as a leitmotif across the event’s leadership agenda.
