Bobbie Sterne was smart. She was perceptive, and she commanded respect – a sure-handed pioneer as a woman in Cincinnati politics.

The death of Sterne – the first woman elected mayor and a pillar in city politics for almost three decades – Wednesday evening touched many in the city, including women who worked alongside her or watched her as their role model.
