WATERLOO REGION — Waterloo Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin says the local service will create a mentorship program to encourage female officers to become leaders in policing.

Female police officers face unique challenges and a network is needed to ensure female members feel comfortable in the job, Larkin said in an interview after a police board meeting Wednesday.
