Labour MP Jess Phillips has blasted Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership team for looking down on women as “patronised poor people” who need the “big important men to save them”.

The Women’s Parliamentary Labour Party chair, who has been tipped as a future leadership candidate, also claimed the party “isn’t ready” for a female leader while it believes women cannot help them win male votes.
