Pope Francis’ decision to form a commission to tackle the question of women serving as deacons in the Catholic church has piqued the interest of some religious leaders in Frederick County.

The pope recently established the Commission for the Study of the Diaconate of Women, according to an Aug. 2 report from Vatican Radio.
